How do I care share?

To be a driver
1. Save the PLANETcarpool TXT number 0226831421 on your mobile phone.
2. Optional but recommended step:-
Open an account and register your car plate number to your account.
- For faster car sharing.
- Access PLANETcarpool safety features like buddies and overdue alerts.
- 9 quick steps that should take about 15 minutes ( do this now).
3. When you are travelling just keep an eye out for passengers standing on the roadside displaying a
PLANETcarpool sign.

To be a passenger
1. Open an account.

3. Make sure you have enough change in your pocket to contribute 5c per kilometer that you travel
with the driver towards their vehicle costs.
4. Choose a good place to seek a car share. This should be beside a road where:
- Much of the traffic is likely to be heading in the same direction as you are travelling.
- The traffic is not going too fast (if possible a 50km/hr area is good).
- The drivers can easily see you for a few seconds before they pass you.
- There is space for the driver to pull over safely near to you.

When a driver pulls over for a passenger
1. They should discuss their destinations to decide if it worthwhile to car share.
2. Once that is sorted, the passenger will TXT message the car plate number to PLANETcarpool (0226831421) like this:

Where
|
- PassengerPIN is the passengers account PIN.
- CARNUM is the car registration plate number.
|
3. The PLANETcarpool server will send the passenger a TXT message confirming their car share in this vehicle has
been saved in the database.
PCpool 2 PassengerUsername. Ride saved in vehicle CARNUM.
4a. If the driver chooses, they may then send a TXT message to PLANETcarpool (0226831421) like this:

Where
|
- CARNUM is the car registration plate number.
|
4b. The PLANETcarpool server will send them a TXT message like
|
PCpool 2 driver of vehicle CARNUM. Ride saved. Please meet PassengerUsername
(4 rides, 75% OK, 5 buddies) with ID: IDNUM.

Where
|
1. PassengerUsername is the passengers PLANETcarpool username.
2. IDNUM is the last five digits of their ID card number.
3. The driver will see that (in this example)
- PassengerUsername has so far shared 4 rides
- 75% of all feedback placed on them by other members has been positive
- They have 5 PLANETcarpool buddies who they trust and who trust them.

Note If the driver is already a PLANETcarpool member withe the vehicle registered to their account then this TXT message
will be sent automatically.
4c. The passenger should their ID card to confirm their PLANETcarpool identity.
If all checks out then:
5. The driver should invite the passenger into their car and continue travelling.
6. When it is time for the passenger to alight, the passenger should offer the driver some contribution towards their travel costs.
5c/km is the expected amount.
7. Both passenger and driver (if they have an account) should remember to place feedback on each other.
